West Bromwich Albion technical director Luke Dowling has told The Express & Star that reported Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United target Oliver Burke could be loaned out in the January transfer window.

According to The Sun on Sunday (print edition, page 61, October 14, 2018), Premier League clubs Tottenham and Newcastle are interested in signing Burke from Championship side West Brom (click here to read more).

It has been reported that both Spurs and the Magpies have sent scouts to watch the 21-year-old former Nottingham Forest winger in action.

West Brom technical director Dowling has said that the Scotland international could be loaned out in the January transfer window – and this will encouraging Tottenham and Newcastle given their reported interest in the 21-year-old.

“If we think a loan might improve him we’ll look at it, but hopefully it won’t come into that because he’s in our matchday squad,” Dowling told The Express & Star.

Disappointing spell

Burke has struggled to make an impact at West Brom since his move from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £15 million.

The former Nottingham Forest winger was able to make only two starts and 13 substitute appearances in the Premier League for West Brom last season, providing two assists in the process, according to WhoScored.

So far this campaign, the 21-year-old has played just 14 minutes in the Championship for the Baggies, according to WhoScored.
