The Daily Mail have claimed Sky Sports have used specific technology to drown out songs from Leeds United fans which attack the broadcaster – and Luke Ayling has reacted hilariously on Twitter.
Leeds fans are frustrated that the club’s kick-off times continue to change, meaning pre-made plans about travel and accommodation are affected. Leeds’ clash against Nottingham Forest was moved to a 5:30 kick-off on Saturday.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side have only played four of their 15 Championship outings at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon this season, less than any other club. It has seen Leeds fans conjure up an abusive chant aimed at Sky Sports.
Chants of “Sky TV is f****** s***” from the Leeds fans during the clash against Forest was silenced by technology Sky have used called dampening. But defender Ayling saw the funny side of the report, urging Leeds fans to sing louder.
Ayling managed only 25 minutes of the Saturday evening clash against Nottingham Forest, as the 27-year-old was withdrawn after suffering a knee injury. It has since been confirmed that he will be sidelined for two months.
Leeds rescued a point against Aitor Karanka’s Forest despite dominating the passage of play in the second half and finishing the match with an incredible 71 per cent possession. Kemar Roofe’s controversial goal saw Leeds draw 1-1.
Fans are also annoyed that despite 19 of their 46 league games being televised last season, the club only received £7.5million while the bottom Premier League side rakes in £100million. Leeds face Wigan on Sunday at 1.30pm.
