Leeds United fans were discussing a move for Bristol City defender Aden Flint this past week.

While there is no reason to actually suggest that Leeds are currently interested in signing Bristol City’s Aden Flint, his recent decision to like a tweet suggesting that he would be a good signing for the Whites undoubtedly created plenty of buzz amongst the Elland Road faithful on Twitter.

Flint has been excellent in the last two seasons in the Championship, and Thomas Christiansen surely needs to strengthen his centre-back options this summer ahead of the new campaign – so it may have seemed almost too good to be true recently when Flint made the smallest hint on social media regarding his future.

Some fans may be hesitant about the prospect of targeting the 28-year-old given that the Robins’ form since their return to the second tier has been fairly up and down – but it was from Ashton Gate where Leeds signed a player who went on to become one of the signings of the summer for them last year.

With prolific forwards Marcus Antonsson and Kemar Roofe, former loanee Liam Bridcutt and ex-Premier League player Pablo Hernandez being amongst those to sign last summer, the acquisition of Luke Ayling probably went under the radar.

However, the right-back – who was signed from Bristol City – went on to be one of Leeds’ best performers throughout the campaign, proving that some real gems can be found in the same division, and the Whites should look to repeat the trick with Flint.

It may perhaps also be fair to suggest that Ayling’s form last season could have partially been down to the fact that he had good friend Kyle Bartley alongside him in the back four, as the pair clearly had an excellent understanding.

With Bartley back at Swansea currently, signing another player who Ayling knows well and may perhaps be capable of forming that brilliant understanding with may bring the best out of the 25-year-old and may present Flint with the best chance of winning any doubters over – if Leeds do indeed join the race for his signature.
