Luke Ayling has established himself as one of the most impressive players in the current Leeds United squad.
Luke Ayling has told LUTV that he was aware that many Leeds fans knew little about him when he first arrived at Elland Road in 2016, but suggested that he feels that he has won the supporters round with his performances.
Ayling’s arrival from Bristol City last summer seemed to catch many supporters by surprise, with the full-back hardly a household name before his move to Yorkshire.
Since then however, Ayling has arguably cemented himself as one of the first names on the teamsheet, rarely putting in a bad performance and proving to be one of the most reliable players in the squad. And he has been rewarded for that by being given a new contract with Leeds, as LUTV reports.
And he admitted that he was aware that the fans knew little about him when he arrived, but insisted that he knew that he could win the fans over, and feels that he has done that with his performances and his style of play.
“But I knew that I could play at this level and that I’d play well at this level, so then I came in and I try my best every game and I work hard, and I think the fans see that and I think that’s why the fans like me because I go out there, play my best every game and try my best.”
Ayling has arguably already proved to be one of the best signings that Leeds have made in recent years, and if he can continue to demonstrate the same quality and consistency that he has shown throughout the last year or so during the rest of his Leeds spell, then his reputation as one of the club’s better bargain signings will only be enhanced.
And with Ayling the latest in a long line of first-team players who have signed new deals since Andrea Radrizzani took full control of the club, it appears that there is something very exciting happening at Elland Road.
