Leeds United duo Vurnon Anita and Pontus Jansson were the victims of Luke Ayling’s banter recently.

Speaking to LUTV, Luke Ayling has been taking subtle shots at some of his Leeds United team-mates – namely Vurnon Anita and Pontus Jansson.

Anita, who joined Leeds on a Bosman after his contract with Newcastle expired, has only been at the club a matter of months but it appears as if the dimunutive Dutchman – who stands around 5’5 in height – has been making big statements off the field as well as on it.

Pontus Jansson of Leeds United celebrates after the Sky Bet Championship match between Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday at Elland Road on February 25, 2017 in Leeds, England.

His fellow newbies at Elland Road such as Samu Saiz and Egjzan Alioski have caught the eye for what they have done with their feet since joining the Whites, but it seems like the Netherlands international is courting attention for what he has been wearing on his.

Asked on LUTV about Anita’s pink trainers, Ayling said: “Yeah it’s just different, something cool. He’s quite small as well so clothes fit him well. He hasn’t got that problem where you’ve got a long body and short arms. He’s all short so it’s all one size.”

The former Bristol City right-back went on to criticise fellow defender Jansson for his gloomy demanour, joking that the big centre-half has only smiled on four occasions this season.

Asked who the grumpiest is, Ayling responded: “Pontus – morning, afternoon, night time, whenever you come across him [he’s grumpy]. To be fair he’s probably smiled four times this year, so that’s an improvement on last year.”

It goes without saying that it was a playful interview from Ayling, but Leeds, as a team, are offering very little to laugh about at the moment.

Thomas Christiansen’s side went down 3-0 at Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday, failing to bounce back from their 3-1 defeat to Championship rivals Cardiff City who dislodged them from the summit in midweek.
