Leeds United are reportedly keen to sign Kyle Bartley this summer one year after his Elland Road loan spell came to an end.

Luke Ayling has told BBC Radio Leeds that he is going away on holiday with Kyle Bartley over the summer and he is planning to try and convince the defender to join Leeds during the upcoming window.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reported last month that Leeds are keen to bring Bartley back to Elland Road during the summer. Bartley enjoyed a superb loan spell last season and his absence appears to have seriously impacted on the current defence, with his leadership and organisation skills seemingly not replaced.

The Whites are seemingly trying to bring the 26-year-old back to the club in the coming months, and Ayling joked after his return to the side after a number of months out with injury that he is going to try and convince the Swansea City defender to come back.

“Yeah we speak everyday still. We are really good friends. I go away with him in the next two weeks so I’ll be in his ear trying to get him here, don’t you worry about that,” he told BBC Radio Leeds.

Based on the contrast between the two seasons, it does appear that getting Bartley back would be a fantastic piece of business for Leeds if they were able to agree a deal with the Swans.

His presence seemed to bring the best out of Ayling and Pontus Jansson and the team always seemed to be considerably much more difficult to break down – not to mention, the number of goals that he bagged from corners.

It certainly appears to be one of the best deals that Leeds could possibly do over the summer, and if they do manage to get Bartley back, perhaps the Elland Road faithful will have Ayling to partially thank for helping get the move across the line.
