Tottenham youngster Luke Amos has hailed Victor Wanyama.
Tottenham Hotspur youngster Luke Amos has told the club’s matchday programme, as quoted by the Hertfordshire Mercury, that he thinks Victor Wanyama is ‘like a rock’.
Spurs may have gone five games without a win in all competitions, but they remain unbeaten in the Premier League, and one of their summer signings has excelled.

The Kenyan international was signed by and subsequently worked under now-Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino at St. Mary’s Stadium, and their reunion has certainly had the desired impact.
Wanyama’s incredible power has caught the eye, whilst he’s been far more disciplined than he was at Southampton, and has seemingly pushed Eric Dier down the midfield pecking order due to his superb displays.

Whilst pundits have been falling over themselves to praise Wanyama, the 25-year-old has now been hailed by one of Tottenham’s up-and-coming young players in Luke Amos.
Amos, also a defensive midfielder, has come up through the ranks at White Hart Lane, and has shared his thoughts on Wanyama’s impressive start to life with the North London club.
Amos, 19, has told Tottenham’s matchday programme – as quoted by the Hertfordshire Mercury – that he thinks Wanyama is ‘unbelievable’ off the ball, and he has actually learned that Wanyama is more than a ball-winner as he’s great in possession as well.

“He’s unbelievable off the ball,” said Amos. “There’s no player in the Premier League that’s going to shrug him off so in any one-v-one situation I’d back Victor. Whenever there are any counter-attacks he’s there to break them up, he makes interceptions and, for the attackers, if you have him in your team you know that Victor’s going to get the ball back and you can go on the attack yourself. It’s like having a rock in the team.”
“If you look at him, he’s a physical specimen and he imposes himself on the pitch. I like how in some of the recent games he’s been talked about as man of the match. A lot of the time, the hard work of players like him goes unnoticed so I’m glad that he gets spotted for the great work that he does. To be fair, in our job, you do it because you want to and because you enjoy doing it, not because you want to make the headlines.”
“I saw him a bit last season at Southampton but I’ve now seen in person that he’s very, very composed on the ball. The ball comes in to him and others might think he’s moving a bit slowly but he knows the whole pitch – where to play, when to turn and I was very impressed with that. Before he arrived, I thought he was only a ball winner but now I know he’s fantastic on the ball as well,” he added.
