Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luke Amos was rewarded with his Premier League debut after a series of impressive pre-season performances.

Amos came on as a substitute in Tottenham’s 2-1 victory at Newcastle at the weekend.

He was brought on for England international Eric Dier for the final few minutes as Spurs closed out the victory.

It was a show of faith from manager Mauricio Pochettino, who greeted him warmly a few minutes later at the final whistle.

Amos sent fans a message on Twitter last night, reflecting on his big moment.

Amos shone on Tottenham’s pre-season tour of America and has put himself in the conversation for first team opportunities.

At present he is helped by injuries which are holding back Victor Wanyama and Harry Winks.

He has also benefitted from Tottenham’s decision not to sign any players this summer.

Just 21, Amos spent last season on loan at Stevenage. There is clearly a big jump required for him to make it at Spurs.

He took his chance in America, and now it looks like further chances could come his way.
