Luke Amos was breaking into Tottenham Hotspur’s first-team this season, but he will now miss the rest of the season.

Luke Amos has taken to Twitter to express his despair at the fact that he will miss the rest of the season due to injury, while he also thanked the Tottenham fans for their messages of support.
Amos made his first-team debut for Spurs in their victory over Newcastle at St James’ Park back in August, and it appeared that he was going to be in contention to feature in their Champions League clash with Barcelona with Mauricio Pochettino having a number of injuries to contend with.
Unfortunately, the injury list has gained one more name, and it is a huge blow for Amos. The club have today confirmed on their official website that he will miss the rest of the season after rupturing an anterior cruciate ligament while playing for the under-23s last week.
Unsurprisingly and completely understandably, Amos was not able to hide his disappointment on social media as he took to Twitter to comment on the news for the first time.

But the 21-year-old showed plenty of class by thanking the supporters for the words of encouragement that he has received since the news of the severity of his injury broke.
It is obviously a major setback for the youngster, but it is not uncommon for players to make fantastic recoveries from long-term periods on the sidelines, so it would undoubtedly be a mistake to write off Amos’ chances of forcing his way back into the first-team picture with Spurs further down the line.

For now though, here is Amos’ post on Twitter following the announcement…
