Romelu Lukaku shone for Everton during their 2-0 win over West Ham United today.
West Ham’s nemesis Romelu Lukaku returned to haunt them today during their 2-0 defeat against Everton, as the Belgian scored for the seventh consecutive game against the Hammers, as reported by the Metro.
Slaven Bilic’s side had their chances throughout the game, but the Toffees were more clinical in the attacking third and eventually took all three points.
Robin van Persie during his time at Arsenal
Lukaku’s goal was his seventh of the Premier League season, and it took the 23-year-old just one short of Robin van Persie’s record of scoring in eight consecutive games against the same team, as reported by the Metro.
The former Arsenal and Manchester United striker scored in eight consecutive games against Stoke City during spells with both clubs.
Lukaku’s future was the subject of intense speculation throughout the course of the summer, with Chelsea being heavily linked with a big money move for the Everton star (the Sun).
Everton’s Romelu Lukaku
The Belgian eventually opted to stay at Goodison Park and, so far, it seems as though that decision is bearing fruit for both himself and his club.
Assuming that Lukaku is fit and available for selection, he will get his chance to equal the Dutchman’s record when Everton travel to London to take on West Ham on April 22nd.
