If Romelu Lukaku joins Bayern Munich then Everton could also miss out on Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi.

Everton could be set for double disappointment in the striker department this summer if Romelu Lukaku joins Bayern Munich ahead of Chelsea.

According to the Manchester Evening News the Bundesliga champions have entered the race to sign Lukaku alongside his former club and Manchester United.

Bayern manager Carlo Ancelotti is a known admirer of the Belgium international and the striker’s father is also said to be particularly keen for his son to move to the Allianz Arena.

Of course the first blow for the Toffees would be losing Lukaku, who turned down a new £140,000-a-week contract in March after becoming the first player since Gary Lineker in 1986 to score more than 20 league goals for the club.

Secondly, if the 24-year-old were not to return to Stamford Bridge then that would also probably put an end to a potential deal to sign Michy Batshuayi to replace him.

The Daily Star reported that Ronald Koeman wanted to use Batshuayi as a makeweight in any deal that would see Lukaku rejoin the Blues.

And even if Koeman tried to sign the 23-year-old in a separate deal, Antonio Conte would probably be less inclined if he has not signed a new option upfront and, as the London Evening Standard reports, Diego Costa also leaves.
