The Tottenham Hotspur star has received praise from the Everton forward.
In an interview with the print edition of Sport/Foot Magazine (and later published online by Sport Witness) Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has been speaking about his Belgian teammate Jan Vertonghen.
The two know each other well from their time on international duty, while they have also faced off a number of times for Everton and Tottenham Hotspur respectively, so Lukaku knows what he is talking about when he calls Vertonghen the best defender in the Premier League.

“He’s incredible technically,” Lukaku said. “He can run and he can tackle. For me, he’s the most complete defender in the league.”
That is a bold statement, especially when you consider Tottenham alone also have the majestic Toby Alderweireld, yet Lukaku knows the pair well and it is a huge honour for the 29-year-old.

Vertonghen has featured 177 times for Tottenham to date, including 15 times this season, and he has become even more important in Alderweireld’s enforced absence due to injury.
For now he is focused on international matters, but he will soon return to White Hart Lane hoping to maintain Tottenham’s superb start to the campaign; one that finds them battling hard for a Premier League title that could go to any one of a number of sides come May.
