West Ham United are interested in signing Luka Jovic from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window, according to Eurosport.

What’s the story?

Eurosport are reporting today that West Ham are showing interest in Madrid’s Jovic.

Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti does not consider the 23-year-old as part of his plans for this season.

The striker is a long-term target for the Hammers, who are now considering ‘turning their attention’ to the 23-year-old Serbia international.

West Ham manager David Moyes wants to sign a new striker to help Michail Antonio, who is actually a winger by trade and has been playing in attack for the London club.

However, the Premier League club are not alone in chasing Jovic.

At least three clubs in Germany are keen on signing the 23-year-old.

Could a West Ham transfer happen?

According to The Guardian, Madrid paid Eintracht Frankfurt an initial €65 million (£55.02m) to sign the 23-year-old in 2019.

Things have not worked out for the youngster in Spain, and he actually had a loan spell at Frankfurt during the second half of last season.

Now, Madrid paid a lot of money for Jovic, and the Spanish giants will surely not just sell him on the cheap this summer.

It is unlikely that West Ham are going to pay £50 million+ for a 23-year-old striker who has been struggling for two seasons now.

A loan deal is the most likely, if indeed a transfer does take place.

Jovic scored four goals in eight Bundesliga starts for Frankfurt last season, and scored two goals and gave one assist in 422 La Liga minutes for Madrid in 2019-20.
