Luis Suarez has sent a congratulatory message to Tottenham Hotspur’s Rodrigo Bentancur on Instagram.
It was the former Juventus midfielder who wound up rescuing a point for Spurs in their Champions League visit of Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday evening.
According to Transfermarkt, this was only the second goal that the Tottenham player – signed for £16.4 million in January [The Athletic] – has ever scored with his head.
And Suarez has teased him about this on Instagram.

Responding to his fellow Uruguayan’s post on social media, the former Liverpool and Barcelona hitman wrote: “What a goal my friend! You score with the head? Congratulations.”
Suarez also added in a number of surprised and laughing face emojis when referencing Bentancur’s header.
The 25-year-old has been operating in a slightly more advanced midfield role as of late and it’ll be interesting to see if Bentancur’s goal – his second for Tottenham – is a sign of things to come.
Having said that, Antonio Conte’s side did look a better and more balanced team when Bentancur was operating in his usual more defensive position and it’s probably better for the Lilywhites as a whole if the Italian manager reverts to that.
Going by Suarez’s comments, it’s safe to say that the South American probably isn’t noted for being particularly gifted in an aerial sense, perhaps being a running joke in Uruguay training, but if it’s something he can add to his game then, well, why not?
