Harvey Elliott has returned to Liverpool training and looks set to become available once again, hinting as much with a post on Instagram. Luis Garcia has reacted to the post – claiming Elliott is like a new January signing.

Elliott, 18, had started three Premier League games in a row at the beginning of the campaign – before a tackle from Leeds defender Pascal Struijk dislocated his ankle. Elliott has since been sidelined with the issue.

The teenager got a goal and an assist in a friendly against Wrexham last week, which Liverpool win 7-1. It is expected that Elliott could be part of the side that takes on Championship side Cardiff on Sunday, in the FA Cup.

Elliott hinted that he could be involved this weekend with a post on Instagram, suggesting that he is all set for a big week. It would still only be his 14th senior appearance for the Reds, if he does play on Sunday.

Luis Garcia message to Elliott: Liverpool star is like a new signing

The Reds needed a bit of creativity from midfield and having Elliott back, after a brilliant start to the season – is just like a new addition. Whether he can instantly return to his early-season form is another matter.

But Sunday’s clash against Cardiff in the FA Cup could not be better timing. It allows Klopp to give a run out to a few fringe players, and Elliott can ease back into the Liverpool side. Garcia reacted to his post on Instagram.
