Luiz Diaz has only been a Liverpool player a matter of weeks and he’s already a champion.
Okay so he hasn’t won the Champions League or Premier League at Liverpool yet, but he did help the Reds to a Carabao Cup final victory over Chelsea tonight.
Jurgen Klopp’s side won a penalty shootout 11-10 at Wembley following a fascinating 0-0 draw during the regulatory two hours.
It was by far Diaz’s biggest game in the few that he’s played since joining the Anfield outfit in a £49 million January deal from Porto last month.
However, there was no evidence of that going by his performance.
The Colombia international posted a display which looked like he’s been a Liverpool player for years and was arguably the Reds’ best player, prior to be substituted after the 90 minutes.
Here’s how Diaz reacted to the occasion on Instagram:
His caption, when translated from Spanish to English, reads: “Thank God. We are Champions.”
Yes Liverpool spent a lot on the South American but, at £49 million, he could still prove an absolute bargain.
Remember, Diaz is only 25 and nowhere near the prime of his career yet.
And based on what he’s shown so far, this is someone who’s going to get a lot better under a man-manager like Klopp and if he can perform like this in finals, well it looks like the German and Michael Edwards have found themselves yet another big-game player.
