Leeds United star Rodrigo scored a ‘lucky’ goal against Manchester United, according to Ralf Rangnick.
The Spaniard halved the deficit early in the second half as Leeds found themselves only 2-1 down, before Raphinha completed the comeback minutes later following a whirlwind restart for the Elland Road outfit.
However, the Red Devils ultimately restored their two-goal lead for what proved a 4-2 victory in West Yorkshire.
Rodrigo’s goal looked to have a degree of good fortune about it when his perceived cross looped over David de Gea’s head and nestled in the corner of the net.
Here’s what Rangnick said to Sky Sports after the contest.
He said: “After two minutes in the second half, it was a completely different atmosphere in the stadium. The [first] goal was lucky, I don’t think he meant to shoot the ball like he did.”
Lucky?
Definitely, but Leeds are due some good fortune. It’s only disappointing from their perspective that ultimately it amounted to nothing.
It’s been a horrendous campaign for Marcelo Bielsa’s outfit who are only five points above the Premier League’s relegation zone.
However, injuries to Patrick Bamford and Kalvin Phillips, United’s two best players, haven’t helped one iota and the Whites have struggled in a major way without those two influences this season.
