Marcelo Bielsa will be glad he chose Leeds over Sporting.

Marcelo Bielsa has had a stop-start management career since leaving Athletic Bilbao and he has decided to gamble his reputation on Leeds United.
The Argentine’s decision made news around the world, and he turned down a few offers beforehand.

One club reported to want him were Portuguese side Sporting, with Portuguese newspaper Record reporting in early June that Bielsa was on their shortlist.
Bielsa was not swayed by the Primeira Liga side, and chose Leeds instead.
It already looks a wise decision.
Sporting already looked like a red flag after several key players terminated their contracts in early June after a row with the club president. Now it has got even crazier.

The Portuguese side hired Sinisa Mihaijlovic instead of Bielsa, and they have now sacked him after just nine days in charge.
The Guardian report Sporting are in crisis, having decided to terminate Mihaijlovic’s ‘probabionary period’ and plan to appoint a successor by Monday.
Elland Road seems a model of tranquility by comparison, as Bielsa gets to work at Leeds with the full support of his club chairman.
