Newcastle United are interested in appointing Lucien Favre as their new manager, according to The Daily Mail.
It has been reported that the new owners of Newcastle are planning to sack Steve Bruce before the match against Tottenham Hotspur.
Among the managers Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) are looking at is 63-year-old Favre.
Would Lucien Favre be good for Newcastle?
Favre has never worked as a manager in England, but the Swiss has a very good reputation in mainland Europe.
The 63-year-old has been charge of major clubs such as Hertha Berlin and Borussia Monchengladbach.
Favre was the manager of Nice in France from 2016 until 2018 before taking over Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.

Now without a managerial job, Favre would be a good appointment for Newcastle.
The Swiss’s teams play dynamic and attacking football that Newcastle fans would love.
Former Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli worked with Favre at Nice.
As quoted on BeIN Sports in April 2020, the Italian said that Favre is “a great coach” and “is very good tactically”.
Balotelli went on to add that the Swiss is very good in the way he manages the dressing room.
Favre is not a manager who is going to ask for lots and lots of money straightway.
Now, of course, Newcastle are going to spend money, but they are unlikely to bring in world-class players in January.
It will be a gradual process, and Favre would not be the worst candidate to oversee it.
