West Ham United should seriously consider a move for the Atletico Madrid striker.

The Hammers’ striker search is becoming a painful process for Slaven Bilic and the club’s supporters, with many of their prime targets rejecting moves to the London Stadium.

The Croatian has proven throughout his time in management that he is persistent if nothing else, however, and he will surely be scouring the market from top to bottom, in the hope of landing an established hitman.

With this in mind, it is strange that Bilic has not made a move for Atletico Madrid striker Luciano Vietto, who is a key target for Southampton, according to respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

The 23-year-old Argentine moved to the Vicente Calderon Stadium in the summer of 2015, but struggled to settle initially in Madrid.

He spent the entirety of last season on loan with Sevilla, where he scored 10 goals in 29 outings, and showcased the kind of form that convinced Diego Simeone to sign him two years ago.

The former Villarreal man is a real live-wire, and a constant menace to opposing defenders. He possesses a tireless work-rate, and he is no slouch in front of goal either.

Vietto is also at an age where he could be developed by Bilic into an even better player, as he definitely possesses the ability and potential to become one of the best strikers on the continent.

West Ham will have to move quick though, if they want to lure the Argentine to the London Stadium, with Sky Sports reporting that Southampton have opened talks with Atleti over the possibility of signing the 23-year-old.
