Luciano Spalletti comments on Tottenham, Chelsea-linked Antonio Candreva future

Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have been linked with Inter Milan’s Antonio Candreva in the summer transfer window.

Inter Milan manager Luciano Spalletti has told ESPN that Antonio Candreva will not be sold in the summer transfer window.

Candreva has been linked with Premier League clubs Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

According to a report on TuttoMercatoWeb, Chelsea and Tottenham are interested in signing the 30-year-old winger this summer (click here to read more).

Inter manager Spalletti, though, has made it clear that the Italy international winger will not leave the Italian club this summer.

“Absolutely not,” Spalletti told ESPN when asked if Candreva would join Chelsea.

“We intend to keep Candreva,” added Spalletti. “Even if we had to sell him, it would be difficult because we are short of wingers.”

Candreva is a good winger who has a lot of experience, but would the former Lazio star enhance the current quality of Tottenham or Chelsea that much?

Probably not. Chelsea already have some of the best players in the world, while Tottenham have a well-settled starting lineup which is only going to get more competitive once Erik Lamela is back to his best.

The former Udinese star is 30 years of age, meaning that he would have no sell-on value, which would be a problem for Tottenham in the coming years if he failed to make an impact for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
