Leeds United have appointed Marcelo Bielsa as their new head coach.
Leeds United chairman Andrea Radrizzani has told the club’s official website that Marcelo Bielsa was always his top priory.
Bielsa has been appointed as the new Leeds head coach on a two-year contract with the Whites holding an option for a further year, as announced on the club’s official website.
Radrizzani has commented on the decision to hand the Argentine the role of the head coach at the Whites, and the Italian businessman has also praised Victor Orta and Angus Kinnear for the role.
Meanwhile, former Leeds striker and Elland Road favourite Luciano Becchio has given his verdict on the Whites appointment Bielsa as the new head coach on social networking site Twitter.
Radrizzani told Leeds’s official website: “I am thrilled to welcome Marcelo and his staff to Leeds United.
“He is a coach that I have admired for many years and when the opportunity arose to bring him to Elland Road, we made it our top priority for the summer.
“Marcelo has a wealth of experience and he will use that to create a new culture and a winning mentality at our football club.
“I would like to thank Victor Orta and Angus Kinnear for all of the hard work that has gone into this appointment and I look forward to progressing together.”
Hard work starts now
Getting Bielsa is a huge coup indeed for Leeds, who have not featured in the Premier League since 2004 and have become also-rans in the Championship in recent seasons.
The hard work, though, starts now. The Whites have to back Bielsa in the summer transfer window and will have to do their best to sign the players that he wants.
