Lucas Torreira has backed Thomas Partey’s move to Arsenal, as per his comments to Estadio Deportivo.
Partey joined Arsenal on deadline day from Atletico Madrid, with Torreira making the move to the Spanish side.
Torreira is expected to step into the gap left by Partey’s departure.
And the Uruguayan has praised Arsenal, in his first statement, after leaving the club on loan.
“There he will meet a club where they treated me very well and that is the most important thing,” Torreira said about Partey’s move to the Emirates Stadium.
Torreira’s spent two years with Arsenal and was a popular player with their supporters, but he failed to truly nail down a place in their starting line-up.

Mikel Arteta appeared unconvinced by Torreira, and Partey’s arrival would only have knocked him further down the pecking order if he had stayed.
Partey’s signing has caused great excitement at Arsenal, and the Ghanaian could well make his debut in the Gunners’ next match, which comes against Manchester City after the international break.
