Lucas Moura has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are capable of ‘big things’ this season.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side earned a hard-fought point in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Premier League champions Manchester City at the Etihad.

Very few sides will be denying the Sky Blues victory this season, but Tottenham have demonstrated their title credentials – even if the visitors were out-played for much of the game.

Lucas came off the bench to head home the second equaliser with what was his first touch, and the Brazilian has reflected on the ‘unbelievable’ feeling of such a feat.

He told Tottenham TV: “It’s the first time this has happened to me [scoring with first touch]. I’m happy to score here against City with my first touch. It’s unbelievable!

“Congratulations to everyone and thanks to the fans for their support, they helped us a lot. With that spirit, we need to keep working because I think we can do big things this season.”

Pochettino’s side have four points from a possible six in the Premier League and the good news is that City away, arguably the hardest fixture in the calendar, has been ticked off.

Tottenham finished a massive 27 points behind Pep Guardiola’s domestic treble winners last season, so it’ll be interesting to see if the addition of Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso can bridge that gap.
