Leeds United’s promotion push continues on Friday.

Lucas Radebe presents the FIFA Fair Play Award during the FIFA Ballon d'Or Gala 2015 at the Kongresshaus on January 11, 2016 in Zurich, Switzerland.

Leeds United are back in action on Friday afternoon, as they host Wigan Athletic at Elland Road, with their push for promotion continuing.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side really seized the initiative last weekend, beating Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 just hours after Sheffield United had drawn at home to Millwall.

Leeds now have a three-point lead in the race for second place, and will be looking to tick off another game when they take on struggling Wigan – the team who took a point off league leaders Norwich City last weekend.

The Whites need one final push to get over the line and back into the Premier League, and the Easter weekend may well prove to be the key to the race between Leeds and Sheffield United.

Ahead of tomorrow’s game against Wigan, Leeds have received a message of support from club hero and fan favourite Lucas Radebe, who clearly still keeps the club in his thoughts.

Leeds Manager Marcelo Bielsa looks on prior to the Sky Bet Championship between Reading and Leeds United at the Madejski Stadium on March 12, 2019 in Reading, England.

The South African was a star defender for Leeds, and has now suggested that the next two games – Wigan at home and Brentford on Monday – are crucial to the promotion race.

Radebe noted that Leeds are ‘nearly there’ after a long season, issuing a rallying cry to his former club as they edge closer to a long-awaited Premier League comeback.
