Lucas Radebe has told BBC Radio 5 Live (09/09/20 at 9:00 pm) that Leeds need to be careful with Pablo Hernandez and manage his workload ahead of their Premier League return.
The Elland Road legend labelled Hernandez ‘one of the great players’ but thinks Leeds need to be ‘really careful’ with him because of his age.
The 35-year-old playmaker was one of Leeds’ best players last season and is no doubt a club legend for the manner in which he has wowed the fans in the middle of the park.
Radebe touched upon Hernandez’s importance to Leeds and having to ensure that they settle into their new surroundings as smoothly as possible.
“It’s a long stretched league and it requires a lot out of the players,” Radebe told BBC Radio 5 Live. “I think having Pablo Hernandez, who is one of the great players at the age of 35, they have to manage his workload.
“So, they have to be really careful. They have to play properly in making sure that they start the league properly and they settle in nicely.”

Hernandez is without a doubt like a fine wine, who wears wing mirrors when he is on the pitch because the pictures he paints are of high-quality.
That quality will be needed in the Premier League because there will be less space, teams will be pressing Marcelo Bielsa’s men a lot quicker and with more intelligence than what they had to endure in the second-tier.
Whilst playing every week could be an issue for the Spanish playmaker, it needs to be remembered that if he can survive the number of games that are played in the Championship then that extra rest may become useful in England’s top-flight.
