Leeds United are fifth in the Championship after 11 games.
Lucas Radebe has claimed that Leeds United would do well in the Premier League if they can end their top-flight exile this season.
Despite being fifth in the Championship, Marcelo Bielsa’s side are still favourites to win the title this season en route to sealing a long-awaited return to the big time.
Leeds have been absent from the Premier League since their relegation in 2004 and there have been a number of heartbreaking false dawns since then, including last term when Bielsa’s troops capitulated toward the end of the campaign and settled for a playoff spot, ultimately losing to Derby County.
But overall, the Whites look to be a stronger outfit this time around and the club’s legendary defender Radebe told LUTV that he expects his old side to win the Championship this season and then oversee a respectable return to the top tier.
He said: “I think it’s just a matter of time. I think they’ve been playing well since Bielsa came in. He’s changed up the players. Different players, different quality and I think it showed last season.
“Now we [are] hoping this season, you know, they will go up. Not playing in the playoffs, but they should win it [Championship] and then go up.
“I think they will do well in the Premier League.”
Leeds are home to Birmingham City at Elland Road today.
