Leeds United’s Chris Wood and Arsenal’s Lucas Perez have both been linked with moves away this summer.
Could Leeds United’s hopes of retaining their key player rest upon Arsenal’s shoulders? Not necessarily but it appears that The Gunners’ activity in the transfer market could create a ripple effect with major ramifications at Elland Road.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Burnley were ready to launch a second bid for Leeds striker Chris Wood worth £20 million, despite the Championship club making it very clear that they had no desire to sell the 2016/17 second tier top scorer.
The Romanian international, who scored 12 La Liga goals last season to keep Depor in the division, shares a few stylistic similarities with New Zealander Wood.
Both are powerful centre-forwards capable of leading the line on their own but Andone’s deceptive pace probably makes him a better replacement for the jet-heeled Andre Gray, who moved to Watford for £18 million recently, the report adds.

And this is where Arsenal come in. Deportivo have made their desire to re-sign Lucas Perez very clear in recent weeks, The Gunners’ forgotten man seems certain to leave after taking issue with the club’s decision to hand his number nine shirt to club-record signing Alexandre Lacazette.
According to ESPN, the Galician side are desperate to bring the former fans favourite back home just a year after Arsenal triggered his £17 million release clause.
And with the La Liga side not exactly blessed with endless cash and currently struggling to meet Arsenal’s £13.4 million asking price, per the Evening Standard, they may be tempted to cash in on Andone in order to finance a deal.
As such, this would inadvertently spell the end of Burnley’s pursuit of Wood.
