West Ham United are looking to add more firepower to their squad and will be encouraged that one of their reported targets wants to leave Arsenal.

The Hammers are turning their attentions to the summer transfer window after a difficult second season under Slaven Bilic.

An 11th placed finish has seen the popular Croatian credited with doing a good job in tough circumstances with the fallout from the Olympic Stadium move, injuries, the Dimitri Payet saga, speculation over his job and poor recruitment making life difficult.

Bilic has already been heavily linked with a host of moves for strikers including Daniel Sturridge, Wayne Rooney, Jermain Defoe and Kelechi Iheanacho after admitting he is no longer able to rely on Andy Carroll or Diafra Sakho due to their persistent injury problems.

Pablo Zabaleta has already joined and Bilic has revealed he is looking to make up to four “game-changer” signings.

So he will be encouraged by news coming out of Arsenal that reported striker target Lucas Perez has told the club he wants to leave.

The Hammers have been linked with a summer move for 28-year-old Perez, as reported by The Sun, after Perez, a frustrating season at the Emirates following his £17million move from Deportivo La Coruna last August.

His record actually holds up well with eight goals in 21 appearances for the Gunners, many as sub.

And West Ham could be set to pounce after the Spaniard’s agent Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle said his client has had enough already and wants to leave, as reported by Sky Sports.

“The idea is to be able to play for another club,” Lovelle said.

“We want to leave and Arsenal already know. Do you know anyone who is happy but has no opportunities?”
