Tottenham Hotspur ace Lucas Moura has told Football.London that he sees Erik Lamela pulling off stunning goals all the time in training.

Lamela came on as an early substitute in Sunday’s North London derby against Arsenal, replacing Son Heung-min after he pulled up with a hamstring injury.

The Argentinian made a real impact as he opened the scoring with a stunning rabona finish, lighting up the game before getting himself sent off in the second half.

His goal counted for little as Spurs lost 2-1, but he has received major praise for an imaginative goal that few would have even thought of attempting, never mind executed.

Remarkably, that’s Lamela’s second rabona goal goal for Tottenham having pulled off a similar strike against Asteras Tripolis way back in 2014.

Now, teammate Moura has noted that whilst many were surprised by the goal, Tottenham players weren’t because he does this kind of thing in training ‘almost every week’.

Moura added that Lamela is an ‘amazing player’ and teammate, noting that it’s a pleasure to play with him even if some Spurs fans may say that he hasn’t exactly lived up to his potential following his 2013 move from Roma.

“It was a surprise for almost everyone but not for us because we know him very well and he does this in the training sessions almost every week. He is an amazing player and has this quality. It was the only thing he could do in that action. He did very well as it is not easy. He already scored a goal like this in the past but in a derby is even more special.”

“Unfortunately we didn’t win the game because if he won the game with that goal it would be even more special for him, but Lamela is an amazing team-mate and for me it is a pleasure to play with him,” he added.
