Everton’s Lucas Digne was in action for France on Friday night.

France and the Netherlands had differing summers; the French managed to win the World Cup in Russia, whereas the Dutch weren’t even at the tournament having missed out on a second major competition in a row.
The two nations were put in the same group for the UEFA Nations League, and Ronald Koeman’s Netherlands have been hugely impressive, beating Germany in Amsterdam last month.
On Friday, Feyenoord’s De Kuip played host to Netherlands v France, and Koeman’s men again turned in a strong performance to claim a 2-0 victory.
The opener came from poor French defending, as they failed to deal with a Frenkie de Jong chip into the box, and whilst Hugo Lloris saved Ryan Babel’s effort, Liverpool’s Georginio Wijnaldum followed up to score.
Moussa Sissoko then tripped De Jong to give away a late penalty, and Memphis Depay stepped up to chip the ball down the middle and give his side a 2-0 win.

It was a bitterly disappointing performance from France, and whilst Lucas Digne has been starring for Everton since his summer move from Barcelona, he didn’t enjoy a great night on Friday.
The left back was slammed by fans on Twitter for his performance, calling him ‘terrible’, ‘remarkably bad’ and ‘trash’, whilst adding that he shouldn’t even be in a France shirt and is ‘bad at almost everything’, with Lyon’s Ferland Mendy named as a player who should be starting at left back instead in the absence of Benjamin Mendy.
