Everton defender Lucas Digne has praised Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti for the way he has gone about his job at Goodison Park.
Digne was part of the side which lost 3-0 against Wolves at Molineux on Sunday but says the Italian boss can guide Everton back into European competition before long.
He told the club’s official website: “We can be in Europe soon, I am sure, and in a few years we will be towards the top of the league. Carlo Ancelotti is a big coach who knows what he wants.
“He is not messing about, is he? He has won three Champions Leagues. He is the boss. Really quiet and calm and he reads games very well. He helps the team be calm and patient and we need this.”
Digne’s fellow full back Seamus Coleman also defended his manager after the weekend loss.
After a succession of unsuccessful managers, the fact Everton have a boss now who is a proven winner seems to have created a different dynamic.
The players now know they have to raise their standards to get to Ancelotti’s level.
He has been there and done it and they haven’t. There’s a feeling if Ancelotti can’t succeed at Everton, the blame will squarely be on the players.
Digne is confident that won’t happen, and he is the type of player the Toffees need to keep around if they are to push on and achieve their goals.
