Everton defender Lucas Digne has posted on his Instagram story that he is ‘on my way’ amid rumours that he is about to sign for Aston Villa.

Sky Sports have reported that Villa have agreed on a £25 million deal for the Everton left-back.

Rather than waiting for either Villa or Everton to announce his arrival/departure, the Frenchman has taken it upon himself to post this message on his Instagram story, which has delighted the fans in Claret & Blue.

Just like Philippe Coutinho, this potential signing is a serious signal of intent from those in the Villa Park boardroom.

Steven Gerrard wants to guide the Midlands side to Europe and signing someone like Digne certainly helps them along the way.

The France international isn’t leaving Goodison Park because he is no longer good enough.

Something, whatever it maybe, has gone on between the player and Rafa Benitez, hence his imminent departure.

But, what is Everton’s loss is going to be Villa’s gain because, on his day, Digne is an outstanding attack-minded fullback and one of the best in England’s top-flight.

He will also compliment someone like Matt Targett, who is arguably better from a defensive aspect than the man that he will now challenge in B6.

Either way, this is Steven Gerrard making this already-progressing Villa side even stronger in their quest to return to Europe.
