Luca Connell has joined Neil Lennon’s Celtic.
As announced on Celtic’s official website, the Glasgow giants have secured the services of Connell on a four-year contract from Bolton Wanderers in England.
The Daily Mail has reported that the Hoops have paid Bolton £350,000 in compensation fee for the 18-year-old, who can operate as a defender or as a midfielder.
Connell has revealed that he is an Everton fan, and the teenager has also stated that 30-year-old Toffees right-back Coleman is his hero.
Connell told The Scottish Sun: “I’ve been thinking about the ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ thing — but that’s the club, isn’t it?
“You’ve got to respect the club. I’m sure it will be on the good side. I’m an Everton fan. My hero was probably Seamus Coleman.
“I got to train with him when I was with the Republic of Ireland squad, so even better. But it’s a dream come true for me to be able to put the Celtic shirt on.”
Good signing for Celtic
Connell is a very talented and promising young player who can be an asset for Celtic in years to come.
Given that Connell is only 18 years of age, it is clear that he can only get better, and playing under Neil Lennon at Celtic, the teenager will improve and progress as a footballer.
It could be hard for the teenager to establish himself in the Celtic starting lineup next season, but he should still get a decent amount of playing time.
