Luca Connell has been linked with a number of teams this summer, with Scottish Premiership champions Celtic reportedly leading the chase.

Luca Connell has told The Irish Examiner that it would be an honour to play for Celtic and insisted that the Hoops are a massive club as he continues to mull over his next move in his career.

The Bhoys are just one of the teams to have been linked with a move for the Bolton Wanderers starlet, with The Daily Mail recently reporting that Neil Lennon’s men were the first club to make an approach for the 18-year-old.

And while Connell insisted that there is still some way to go before his Trotters exit is confirmed, he did hint that he would love to join Celtic if the chance did present itself this summer.

“Everyone knows Celtic are a massive club,” he told The Irish Examiner.

“It’d be an honour to represent them if that’s what the final decision is. I’m keeping my options open and hopefully I can take the right one in the next few weeks.”

Given how highly-rated Connell is, it would be a major coup for the Scottish Premiership champions if they were able to get a deal done before the start of the new season.

Manager of Celtic Neil Lennon walks on the pitch before the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Aberdeen and Celtic at Pittodrie Stadium on May 04, 2019 in Aberdeen, Scotland.

And it will certainly be encouraging to Lennon and the Parkhead faithful that Connell appears to be very keen on making the switch to Celtic this summer.

The Hoops have proven in the past that they are more than capable of upsetting a lot of English sides by landing Moussa Dembele when the striker left Fulham. And based on Connell’s comments, it would appear that there is every chance that they could repeat the trick during this window with the latest Football League sensation up for grabs.
