Everton are interested in signing Hirving Lozano from PSV in the summer transfer window, according to The Liverpool Echo, but with Barcelona also wanting the 22-year-old, as reported by Sport, the Toffees are in danger of missing out on the Mexico international.

Lozano is one of the best young wingers in the world and enjoyed a good season with PSV in 2017-18.

“There have been approaches, but right now there’s nothing concrete,” Jesus Lozano told ESPN when asked about reported interest from Barcelona and other teams.

“I think after the World Cup it will be clear if he stays at PSV or leaves for another team.”

Battle for Everton

Barcelona are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and playing alongside the likes of Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi would be a dream for any footballer.

It is hard to see Everton being able to compete with Barcelona for the signature of Lozano, especially if the Blaugrana are serious about the Mexico international winger.

Lozano’s father’s comments suggest that a decision will be made on the future of the winger only after the World Cup, but perhaps the Toffees should move onto other transfer targets.

According to Sport, PSV paid Pachuca a transfer fee of €10 million (£8.79m) in order to secure the services of Lozano.
