Speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, Callum Wilson has been chatting about reported Tottenham target Antonio Rudiger and how frustrating it is to play against him.

The German has a reputation as one of the best defenders in the Premier League, but according to Wilson, he’s also one of the most annoying.

The Chelsea ace is supposedly always talking trash to strikers on the pitch, and Wilson says that he absolutely hates coming up against him.

What’s been said?

Wilson spoke about Rudiger alongside Michail Antonio.

“A good player in the modern day who enjoys that just as much as we enjoy that is Rudiger, he loves to wrestle with you, he loves to fight with you. And you think ‘I’ve met my match here today’. He’s a good player to have battles against,” Wilson said.

“He’s my boy to be fair, I know him, he’s cool, such a cool guy, but he would talk to me during games and say ‘don’t try that, not with me.’ I remember knocking it down the line and he’s actually quick. I went to shoulder barge him and it was even and he said ‘not with me, not with me Mikey’,” Antonio added.

“He’s always a player who talks on the pitch. He loves trash talking, on the pitch he’s someone you hate, he’s so annoying and frustrating,” Wilson concluded.

What Spurs need

Tottenham are a bit too soft at the back at the moment, so they need someone who will rough up and annoy a striker.

Yes, trash-talking is a dark art of football, but sometimes, it’s exactly that type of thing you need to win you a game.

Look at some of sports all-time greats, Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali, Conor McGregor and so many more won in their respective fields not only through their talent, but by winning the mental battle with their opponents.

Rudiger seemingly knows how to get under someone’s skin, and Spurs need a defender who can do just that.
