If Wolverhampton Wanderers are serious about luring Lucas Ocampos to Molineux this summer, they might have an ace up their sleeve.
Because Sevilla, it seems, are keen to sign a player Wolves can’t wait to sell.
So is there a chance Rafa Mir could go one way with Ocampos moving in the other direction?
Among the Molineux fanbase, there’s a growing confidence an Argentina international, who fired Sevilla to the Europa League title during a storming 2019/20 season, might be within their grasp after all.
It wouldn’t be a straight player-for-player swap, of course. It won’t be quite that simple.
According to La Razon, Wolves value Mir at about £11 million. At least, they did last summer before the former Valencia youngster scored 13 times during a stellar loan spell at La Liga strugglers Huesca.
Even if Mir has increased his market value at El Alcoraz, the fee required to sign a man who hasn’t featured in Old Gold since 2018 is likely to be far lower than the price tag hanging around Ocampos’ neck.

The former Milan, Marseille and Monaco flyer was one of the stand-out wingers on the continent last term, netting 17 times in all competitions – including the winner against Wolves in the Europa League quarter-finals.
According to La Nervion, Ocampos left quite an impression on Wolves, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side keen to raid the Andalusians for a man who, at a reported £56 million, would obliterate their transfer record.
With Mir potentially heading in the other direction, however, Ocampos may have come within reach.
Here’s what some Wolves fans had to say on Twitter about the situation:
