It may seem an age ago now, but during the January transfer window, Chelsea were seemingly keen on Edinson Cavani’s services, as the experienced hitman is now being targeted by Leeds United.
ESPN Uruguay recently reported that newly-promoted Leeds are interested in Cavani and have made contact with the free agent.
It would be quite a remarkable piece of transfer business if Leeds can pull it off, as is proven by the words of Frank Lampard at the turn of the year.
“He’s a great player,” Lampard told BBC Sport in January. “I played against him and always loved his mentality and attitude. His scoring record speaks for itself.”
Given that then Champions League-chasing Chelsea were keen on Cavani’s services, it would be something if he can grace the Elland Road turf next season.
Whilst Leeds are a massive club, they have just been promoted to England’s top-flight after 16 years.

Not only that, Cavani has mainly played for and seemingly being touted to sign for teams in the Champions League so that in itself would show the pulling power of a certain Marcelo Bielsa.
Added with that, whilst Bielsa will continue to show faith in Patrick Bamford, the Yorkshire outfit still need more options up top and Cavani would be one of the best purchases of the summer.
Either way, it’s still early days in the transfer rumour mill regarding Leeds and it wouldn’t be a surprise if more big-name players are touted to sign for the club in these coming weeks.
