‘Special talent’: Some fans react as Aston Villa teenager downs strong Arsenal side

Aston Villa fans on Twitter were pleased to hear that Jacob Ramsey netted a double for his side as they secured a 3-2 win over Arsenal in a friendly yesterday.

Given that fans aren’t allowed in stadiums, clubs up and down the land are having to prepare for the new campaign behind closed doors and Villa got the better of the North London club.

Arsenal fielded a strong side [Goal & AVFC’s gallery] with the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Willian, Alexandre Lacazette, Rob Holding, Dani Ceballos, Mesut Ozil, Hector Bellerin and Mohammed Elneny all featuring.

Whilst Villa did have a number of their big hitters missing, with Tyrone Mings, Jack Grealish, Conor Hourihane and John McGinn all on international duty – those picked, such as teenager Ramsey, made themselves known to the manager.

It remains to be seen whether the 19-year-old will be sent out on-loan again this season or provided with a chance with the senior side when the serious stuff starts.

The preparations for the new season will be tough and weird for those involved because there’s hardly much preparation time, nor do managers have all their players available to them.

Given how the Global Health Crisis has caused havoc across the world, it has delayed the start of the new season and meant that certain matches are being played at odd times – such as the Nations League matches.

Nonetheless, Villa fans on Twitter are hoping that this is a sign of big things to come from Ramsey, who is highly regarded by those in B6.

It remains to be seen whether Smith will unleash him on the Premier League stage next season, but he’s not doing any of his chances any harm.
