Jordan Henderson was delighted for Andy Robertson after he produced a captain’s performance during Liverpool’s 3-1 win at Wolves on Saturday.
After a pretty abject first-half display, Jurgen Klopp’s side went into the break 1-0 down and, once again, needing to come back from behind to win.
And whilst last season Liverpool would collapse, they are now starting to show signs of their old self again, with Andy Robertson, who was stand-in skipper for the suspended Virgil van Dijk, leading that charge.
After Cody Gakpo had equalised just after the break, Robertson’s surging run at Wolves’ backline with five minutes left on the clock resulted in the left-back finishing off what turned out to be the winning goal.
That goal by Robertson may have been provided by Mohamed Salah, but it was finished with his left foot like it was Salah himself on the end of it.
A certain Jordan Henderson, who moved to Saudi Arabia this summer, was watching on from afar and expressed his delight via his Instagram story.
Henderson’s message to Robertson
“Love to see it,” posted the former Liverpool captain via his IG story, added with an image of Robertson wheeling away in celebration.
Can Liverpool challenge for the title?
It could be argued that with key players suffering suspensions or injuries, and new signings still settling in, then Liverpool are nowhere near their best yet.
Therefore, if they are producing this type of form now, then what will they do when they really get their engines going?
As of this moment, given that they were the last team to stop Manchester City from winning the title, then, at the very least, you can’t bet against them challenging again.
