Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to heap praise on Ollie Watkins for his stunning performance against Crystal Palace on Boxing Day.

The 24-year-old failed to get himself on the scoresheet, although he was directly involved in all three goals against the Eagles.

Firstly, his powerful effort could only be parried by Vicente Guaita into the path of Bertrand Traore, who slotted home.

Then, his headed effort bounced back off the crossbar into Kortney Hause’s path, who nodded home at the Holte End.

Lastly, Watkins laid the ball off for Anwar El Ghazi to rifle a fantastic strike in off the far post.

Aside from the goals, the former Brentford attacker put in an admirable shift as WhoScored‘s statistics show.

He had an eye-catching ten shots on goal alone, while also winning seven aerial duels. Watkins also hit the woodwork twice himself.

Villa’s No.11 also completed one cross, and recorded three key passes.

As one fan below accurately states, the Englishman was a real ‘nuisance’ for the south Londoners, on a day where it looked like Roy Hodgson’s men ate a bit too much for Christmas dinner.

Let’s see what some more of the Villa fans on Twitter have been saying…
