Undoubtedly one of the shock deals of the transfer window was the one which saw Oliver Burke leaving Nottingham Forest. It wasn’t the fact he left, or even the £13 million price-tag that had people reeling. Rather the location – Bundesliga club RB Leipzig.

It was a deal that came by surprise, especially with Premier League clubs said to be interested in the player.

Speaking to the Scottish FA’s YouTube channel this week the former Forest man has shed some more light on the deal and why he headed to Germany:

“I knew they loved me as a player.

“That was one thing that I really looked out for was a manager and a club that really liked me for who I am and what I do on the pitch.

“I believe the Bundesliga’s a fantastic league, one of the best in the world I’d say.

“The style of play really suits my play and how I play as a player.”

Burke’s departure came as a shock and angered Nottingham Forest fans.

The club’s supporters wanted to see the club hang on to their special talent a little longer but instead saw him sold after just 10 Championship starts for the club.

Forest have moved to replace him with Nicolao Dumitru, Muzzy Carayol and Lica all arriving – but none of them will likely fill the void who is being likened to Gareth Bale in style and talent.

Burke, who is currently preparing with the Scotland team ahead of a fixture with Malta, will meet up with his new team-mates in Germany next week.
