Aston Villa fans are delighted at the news that their former player Tammy Abraham has been called up by England.
The Roma striker wasn’t initially included in Gareth Southgate’s squad, which was named last Thursday, but he has now been drafted in.
Even though he is bang out of form, it’s obvious that Harry Kane will lead the line for his country.
But then, it’s a fight between Villa’s current star Ollie Watkins, and the man who scored the goals to help them to promotion, in Abraham, for that back-up spot.
Villa fans are glad to see Abraham back in the national fold and they can’t wait to see him link up with Watkins.
In seven Serie A games this season, Abraham has scored two goals and supplied three assists, along the way.
Before Abraham moved to Italy, there was the possible suggestion of him moving back to Villa Park.
But it wasn’t meant to be, although that doesn’t mean that he isn’t fondly remembered by those in the Midlands.
He scored 26 goals during Villa’s promotion campaign, including in the play-off semi-final against West Brom (twice).
Both from the penalty spot, on the first occasion in the first leg and then the crucial spot-kick during the shootout win at the Hawthorns.
And it won’t be a surprise to those at Villa that he is now donning the colours of his country.
