Manchester City made it ten wins in a row as the Premier League leaders eased past Brentford with a comfortable victory against the west London side.
Phil Foden’s early goal was all that separated the two sides, with the Manchester giants now eight points clear of Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table.
It was hardly a classic, with City taking an unusually conservative approach against Thomas Frank’s side. However, the tactic worked as Brentford struggled to create much against the Cityzens.
And Brentford’s struggles against City were summed up best by star striker Ivan Toney, who took to Twitter after the match to give his thoughts on the 1-0 loss to the European titans.
The former Peterborough striker posted: “Not the best kick about, Year 11’s stole our ball. But we go again next year. Fans were behind us right till the end. Happy New Year everyone, stay safe.”
Indeed, the humorous tweet went somewhat viral on the platform, and City fans on social media loved the Brentford star’s honest take on their Premier League clash with the division leaders.
