Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react after Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge posted a tweet involving Wilfried Zaha and Patrick Vieira.

What’s the story?

Well, Bridge was tweeting to inform the Selhurst Park faithful that he’d interviewed Vieira, and shared two encouraging bits of information.

Firstly, the Sky Sports reporter said that Vieira is aware of what the rivalry with Brighton means to everyone at the club.

That might not seem like much, but it’s very important for a Crystal Palace manager to understand the significance of this fixture.

Ian Holloway revealed in 2012 that he felt the rivalry was ‘baffling’ – at the time, that didn’t really go down too well with supporters.

Secondly, Bridges wrote that Zaha is ready and focused on the 2021/22 campaign, amid talk that the Ivorian still wants to leave.

Big season for Wilfried Zaha

For the first time since 2017, Zaha will be playing under a manager who isn’t Roy Hodgson.

In our view, it’s fair to say the 73-year-old held the 28-year-old back with his persistent use of a defensive style of play.

Under Vieira, a man who seems more focused on possession and playing out from the back, Zaha could thrive.

He already has two goals to his name in pre-season, and with the likes of Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze alongside him, he should thrive.

For now, let’s see what the Crystal Palace fans on Twitter have been saying about Bridge’s tweet…
