Arsenal striker Mika Biereth will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott in becoming a mainstay in the Premier League.

Elliott has come a long way since joining Liverpool from Fulham only two years ago.

Still just 18, the Liverpool starlet dazzled against Champions League winners Chelsea at Anfield on Saturday – and Biereth, who joined Arsenal from the Cottagers last month, has reacted to his old teammate’s post-match message on Instagram.

The pair both came through the ranks with the West London club, with Biereth scoring 21 goals for the Under-18 side last term to secure a switch to the Emirates Stadium side.

Elliott said after the game on social media that he was ‘disappointed’ with the 1-1 draw against the Blues, and the big striker responded by saying: “Love it you.”

Following Elliott

Biereth has quite a long way to go before he’s Arsenal’s answer to Elliott at Liverpool.

Well for one thing they are completely different players, but surely the big striker’s long-term goal is to become a star for the North London club.

And really, joining Arsenal was a smart decision; not only because it’s a very big club – current results notwithstanding – but also because Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are a combined 62 years of age and won’t be at the Emirates for that much longer.

In other words, the Gunners are going to need to freshen up their forward line and although Folarin Balogun is there, there is a scope for Biereth to also break into the senior squad over the coming years, providing he has what it takes.
