Tyrone Mings and Steven Gerrard expressed their delight on Robin Olsen’s Instagram post after he signed a permanent Aston Villa deal.

The 32-year-old spent the second half of the recently-concluded Premier League campaign on-loan at Villa, after spending some time at Championship side, Sheffield United.

Olsen made his debut on the last day of the Premier League season, as Villa suffered a 3-2 defeat at champions, Manchester City.

The big decision-makers at Villa have clearly been delighted by what they have seen from Olsen because they have now made his move from Roma a permanent one.

When Olsen posted his delight on Instagram at his three-year deal, his captain posted in the comments section: ‘Love it, mate’

With his Villa manager adding: ‘so are we’.

OLSEN IS A VERY GOOD DEPUTY TO EMI MARTINEZ

There’s no doubt that Emi Martinez is Aston Villa’s undisputed number one goalkeeper.

The Copa America winner has been outstanding ever since he stepped foot onto the Villa Park turf two years ago.

But, from what Olsen displayed on debut, then Gerrard will have two top-quality keepers to pick from ahead of next season.

What was impressive about Olsen’s debut was how the 58-cap Sweden international handled the pressure, his handling and especially his kicking during the game.

Olsen’s kicking and distribution from the back is something he could argue is better than Martinez’s because that’s one area of the game he needs to improve.
