Isaac Hayden has stated that he ‘loves it’ that Newcastle United have signed Matt Targett on a permanent basis from Aston Villa, as he posted on the left-back’s Instagram.

On Wednesday, Aston Villa announced on Twitter that Targett has made a £15 million transfer to St James’ Park, with John Terry also wishing him ‘good luck’.

It’s no surprise that Newcastle have secured this deal because Targett made quite the impact during his loan spell at the club last season.

So, it was logical for the Magpies to put the money down on a table, as Villa were happy to let him go, especially given that they have Lucas Digne on their books now.

Nonetheless, when Targett posted on Instagram that he is ‘over the moon’ at making Newcastle his home for good, several of his teammates reacted in the comments section.

Hayden, who recently moved on-loan to Championship side, Norwich City, posted: “Love it mate. Fully deserved.”, whilst Emi Martinez added: “All the best amigo.”

TARGETT’S MOVE SUITS BOTH PARTIES

Targett served Villa well, but they have made a small profit from his sale to Newcastle United.

Whilst Steven Gerrard will be looking for another left-back this summer, to provide cover and competition for Digne, it’s probably the right time for the Englishman to move on.

But, for Newcastle, they are riding a wave with Targett, and given his success under Eddie Howe and the money they now have, they had to sign him up.

Come next season, it will be interesting how both Newcastle and Villa perform, as well as Targett and Digne.
