Tottenham Hotspur fans have loved Ryan Mason’s interview on Sunday, as he refused to say the word Arsenal.

Mason was quick to point out that Tottenham had finished above Arsenal on Sunday, which was one of their objectives at the start of the day, after their 4-2 win over Leicester.

It was noteworthy that Mason began to say the name of Tottenham’s arch rivals, before he quickly stopped himself.

He then went on to say ‘we don’t want to finish below them’, and it was a point picked up on by many Tottenham fans.

Mason had mixed success during his time in interim charge of Spurs, since taking over from Jose Mourinho, after the Portuguese boss’s departure.

The 29-year-old won four of his six Premier League matches, but saw his side outplayed by both Leeds and Aston Villa in defeats.

Mason also couldn’t guide Tottenham to success in the League Cup final, as they were beaten by Manchester City at Wembley.

However, he has handled himself excellently in difficult circumstances since taking over, especially in the press.

And his showing as Spurs boss certainly won’t do any harm to his future job prospects.
